What to Look For When Purchasing a Meter Skid

Finding a good meter skid is something that can take a while; especially since there are many different companies out there that offer this product. What if I could tell you a few things that should stick out in your mind when you start shopping around for one? Would you take the suggestions? Of course you would, because they would just be a few simple things to remember.

The first and major recommendation is to decide on what you would like the new meter skid to do. If you don't know what the purpose of why you need this product is, shopping around will be a waste of time. So, make a list of what you really need and then start to look around.

Once you have decided on what you would like your skid to have, then you can start shopping. There are a variety of companies that provide this product. With some companies, you can actually have your own meter skid custom done. What that means is you can have meter engineers design your skid to what features you would like it to have. If your meter skid needs are basic, than I would suggest not getting a custom skid.

Remember that doing some research on different companies and what they offer is the key to saving time and saving money.

If you are an engineer and are having issues with your block valves or strainers, you might want to look at getting a new skid. There are many different companies that offer meter skids, but you want to make sure you are looking for the right features.

Serbian ability Nikola Tesla

(10 July 1856 7 January 1943) was an inventor and electrical engineer. He is frequently cited as one of the most important contributors to the birth of commercial electricity, a man who "shed light over the face of Earth,"[2] and is best known for his many revolutionary developments in the field of electricity and magnetism in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Tesla's patents and theoretical work formed the basis of modern alternating current (AC) electric power systems, including the polyphase power distribution systems and the AC motor, with which he helped usher in the Second Industrial Revolution. After his demonstration of wireless communication (radio) in 1894 and after being the victor in the "War of Currents", he was widely respected as one of the greatest electrical engineers who worked in America.[3] Much of his early work pioneered modern electrical engineering and many of his discoveries were of groundbreaking importance. During this period, in the United States, Tesla's fame rivaled that of any other inventor or scientist in history or popular culture,[4] but due to his eccentric personality and his seemingly unbelievable and sometimes bizarre claims about possible scientific and technological developments, Tesla was ultimately ostracized and regarded as a mad scientist.[5][6] Never having put much focus on his finances, Tesla died impoverished at the age of 86. The SI unit measuring magnetic flux density or magnetic induction (commonly known as the ...

Sonic Violence - Tortured (Original version, vinyl only)

Artist: Sonic Violence Song: Tortured (Original version, vinyl only) Album: Jagd Year: 1990 Track #: 4 of 7 Old school and criminally underrated industrial metal from the UK signed to Peaceville Records back in the golden days of industrial metal. This is their only metal-oriented album; their second album "Transfixion" was more synth-based industrial, but still brutal. This track appeared on the CD release of "Jagd" as a remixed "dub" version. The track in the video is the original and unedited version of the song! This was only available on the vinyl version of the album! I recorded it using my phone's microphone and did a bit of amateur sound engineering on it to retain the original sound it's intended to have.

A Philosophy of Industrial Design - Enhancing People's Lives

If there is anything distinctive or unique about my design philosophy or approach, I don't think it is clearly evident when looking at the finished products I designed. I can sum it up, however, with the following principles:

Esthetics

I strongly believe that things should not be forced to look a certain way. Appearance should evolve or come about naturally as a result of function. The visual statement should express a harmony with why the product exists - what it does, how it is made, what it is made of - and look pleasing if not beautiful.

Ingenuity

I believe that design should search all possible ways to maximize the usefulness of the result. This built-in versatility means that it may provide more than one function. If it is a product, the materials and manufacturing process used must be creatively explored and mated in a way that incorporates all opportunities.

Sincerity and Honesty

These design principles speak to lasting value. The honest designer must be conscious of not introducing fake or insincere elements - imitations of natural materials or components such as knobs or handles that don't work - that may add visual interest but have no connection to function. For me, this disconnect defined the difference between simple cosmetics and genuine esthetics.

And when one designs a product, the effort must enhance the quality of peoples' lives. In other words - and I firmly believe in this - contribute what you can, excluding trickery, cuteness, imitation or misrepresentation. The intention is to strive for a straightforward, clear and simple solution. When intent is adhered to throughout the design process, the end result will project the image that the product "belongs" and is there to help and contribute.

When considering my life's design, I have to say that as with the works that I have tried to create, shape or improve, form has arisen from use. And use, or usefulness, has gone beyond mere circumstance and has had its root buried deep in the soil of need. Circumstance dictated that a boy from the rural South, a black boy whose family lived on the fine edge between poverty and doing all right, was destined to neither amount to nor contribute much. Add to that a condition that forced me to train my mind to literally turn objects around so that I could discover their meaning.

But I came from a family that taught me to see beyond circumstance, find value and create usefulness out of need. The legacy I inherited required that I make myself useful - as a son, man, husband, father and artist. If I were to share one thought with the design community of today and tomorrow it would be to remember that your purpose - your gift to the world - is to provide straightforward solutions to real problems for living, breathing human beings. As an industrial designer especially, your audience is neither history nor fame, but a couple who worked hard to buy their first home on a quiet street and would love just one more hour of sleep in the morning, even on trash day. Your muse is the kid who needs something to occupy his mind and hands during that long drive to grandma's house. Your biggest critic will be the struggling mother who can't afford to keep replacing her kitchen appliances every time a little piece of ornate but useless piece of plastic breaks off.

Know the difference between deep satisfaction and simply delivering a 'wow.' The latter is fancy and derives from simply delivering the unexpected. On the other hand, I believe that deep satisfaction arises when you find an elegant solution to a problem that has, until now, had a hindering effect or negative impact on a person's quality of life or experience. The elegant solutions I am talking about should be executed in such a straightforward manner as to nearly scream their presence to the world.

Function should be obvious - a straightforward solution to a meaningful problem. If I humbly submit my life's design as an example of anything, I would dare say that I have shown, through conscious effort and accident that human beings are the most creative when we encounter the unexpected. Software will give you exactly what you ask for. Corporations drive toward the bottom line, and sometimes the lowest common denominator. On the other hand, a pencil and paper might throw you a curve. A lack of job security may cause you to find security deep within yourself. The afternoon sun may literally shed light on a problem in a way that you may not have seen at daybreak. Being the odd man out may give you the right perspective. Learning to fish without a pole might just change your life.

The Industrial Revolution and Its Impact on Our Environment

The Industrial Revolution was the turning point in the Earth's ecology, and the relationship between humans and the environment on the whole. However, in our pursuit of developing our countries at a fast pace, we started overusing the natural resources. As a result, many resources are now on the verge of exhaustion or short supply.

The changes in agricultural, mining, manufacturing and transportation industries improved the basic quality of human life. However, at the same time, these changes depleted the natural resources of the planet. Also, the release of carbon emissions into the atmosphere has polluted the environment. And due to rampant deforestation, there are not enough trees left that can absorb these carbon emissions. Hence, the average temperature around the world is increasing every year leading to the melting of glaciers and rise in ocean levels.

The Industrial Revolution started in Britain in the 1700s and then quickly moved to the United States, before progressing to other parts of the world. However, the full impact of industrialization on the environment and its resources was not visible until after 100 years. The processes saw sweeping increases in production capacity, but at the same time they literally wiped away the environment of its resources. Industrialization also increased the growth of population, as the standard of living increased. Hence, our dependence on the natural resources increased manifold and soon a large majority of the resources became scarce. There is also growing inequality between the way the benefits of the resources are distributed between the rich and the poor.

Chemical Labels

Chemicals can be extremely dangerous substances for human beings to come in contact with and especially consume, due to this fact they come with plenty of warnings and details stating the facts about the chemicals and what to do if you come in contact with it. All of this information is stored on the Chemical Label and is mandatory that they are included when sold to the public.

Although some chemicals like household cleaning products are not to dangerous unless inhaled or get in your eyes and mouth, they still present risks and still have informative labels, labels often contain symbols to show the hazard presented (flammable is an example).

However on industrial chemicals you will find many different symbols printed upon the Chemical Labels, below are some of the symbols you may encounter (they are all signs or symbols:

Toxic - a skull and bones
Radiation - a yellow background with a black circle surrounded by the black pie shaped icons
Caution - an orange triangle with a black exclamation mark
Warning - a yellow triangle with a black exclamation mark
Biohazard - quite complex to explain but many of you will know what this is.

There are many other signs and symbols that can be printed on the labels, the above are just some of the most common ones.

The label will be attached to the product by means of an adhesive backing; this keeps the label firmly in place. They are often bright and vivid this helps to gain the users attention and encourages them to read its contents.

Nikola Tesla - Mad Electricity allotment 2 of 5

Nikola Tesla (Serbian Cyrillic: Никола Тесла) (10 July 1856 7 January 1943) was an inventor and a mechanical and electrical engineer. Industrial Espionage

Industrial espionage comes in many forms; the most commonly seen is the surveillance type methods, usually seen in the secret spy books and television programs. However, the truth is far from the glamour of the fictitious man who find out about the wrong, puts it right and gets the girl. In the real world this problem is a very real thing and one of the worst types of industrial espionage is the selling of trade secrets.

But this is only one cell of a much bigger definition, in recent years the definition of what is seen as industrial espionage has increased to cover such areas as; attempts to sabotage a corporation, in some cases, malware and spyware has even entered the arena of corporate espionage. And as earlier mentioned there are the more obvious kinds of industrial espionage such as theft of trade secrets, bribery, blackmail, and technological surveillance.

When such occurrences of industrial espionage happen a full fraud investigation needs to take place. Fraud investigation may seem like a useless step once the secret has already been sold, the data already stolen or the product or even factory already destroyed, however, by finding out who stole it, usually they can find out whom to and thus stop its distribution.

In such areas as a pharmaceutical company there is a lot of money at stake, for example, not only does research and development cost into the area of millions but it must also be accepted before it can be sold. Therefore if the information of how to make the new drug is sold fraudulently, not only does is mean the drug company is out of pocket but it also means that if not fully tested the drug could end up causing serious side effects to those who buy the 'rip-off' drug.

The use of malware and spyware is slightly more complex then it would first seem, as not only can such software/viruses cause a great deal of damage to a companies network and database if it is corrupted but the same viruses and self installed software can also steal the data collected in order to try and take away their competitors suppliers to gain an advantage or to sell the information on to rival companies. The more secretive and probably the more dangerous is the cases where bribery and blackmail are used, this can be from a simple threat to out some kind of secret they have hidden to threatening them personally.

In order to keep your business safe you should not only have the most up to date anti spyware and anti virus software but you should also make such you take security seriously by implementing precautions such as access levels whereby a person can only access so much information before needing higher clearance. As well as security both externally and internally to ensure your employees are keeping to the work they should be and are not deviating into files they should not need to.
